Database Administrator

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Database Administrator to independently install, configure, manage and maintain PostgreSQL, Oracle and MySQL environments. The role involves ensuring high availability, security and performance of our databases within Linux environments.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain PostgreSQL, Oracle and MySQL databases.
• Plan and execute database system installations and configurations.
• Manage database users and administer permissions.
• Implement and manage PostgreSQL streaming replication and hot standby.
• Implement and manage Oracle Data Guard (active/standby).
• Perform backup and recovery using pg_dump, pg_basebackup, pg_fdw for PostgreSQL and RMAN, Data Pump for Oracle.
• Execute failover and switchover activities.
• Monitor performance, tune queries, indexes and configuration settings.
• Write and optimise SQL queries for reporting and analysis.
• Ensure database security, integrity and high availability.
• Maintain databases on Linux servers, including routine vacuuming, reindexing and statistics updates.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues independently.
• Support large‑scale database deployments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 1–2 years of hands‑on experience with relational database administration.
• Understanding of database design, modelling and NoSQL concepts.
