Director of Engineering

About the role

The Director of Engineering is a senior technology leader reporting to the CIO, responsible for the overall strategy, execution, and health of CureMD's engineering organization across software development, databases, DevOps, security, and VoIP/telephony.

Key responsibilities

• Own technology strategy, roadmap and delivery for Development, Database, DevOps, Security and VoIP functions, aligning with product and business objectives.
• Lead, mentor and grow a multi‑disciplinary engineering team of managers, architects and engineers, fostering a strong technical culture.
• Provide architectural direction and hands‑on guidance across the ASP.NET/.NET stack, ensuring scalability, security and performance.
• Oversee end‑to‑end software delivery, partnering with Product and QA to maintain predictable release cadence and engineering best practices.
• Drive DevOps maturity, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, containerization and release engineering.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; Master’s degree a plus.
• Minimum 15 years of software engineering experience with 6‑8 years in senior leadership roles.
• Proven track record of building, scaling and retaining high‑performing engineering teams.
• Strong executive communication skills and ability to translate technical strategy into business terms.

Required skills

• ASP.NET/.NET technology stack and modern software design patterns.
• SQL Server database architecture, performance tuning and disaster recovery.
• Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), containerization and CI/CD pipeline design.
• DevOps/Infrastructure automation, release engineering and environment management.
• Application/Information security fundamentals, HIPAA compliance and healthcare IT knowledge.
