Director of Research Innovation & Commercialization

About the role

The University seeks a senior leader to head its Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization. The Director will shape strategy, protect intellectual property, and bridge research outcomes with market and regulatory demands.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a roadmap for innovation and commercialization initiatives.
• Manage the university’s IP portfolio, including patent analysis, trademark management, and clearance processes.
• Conduct market analyses to identify commercial opportunities and align research with industry needs.
• Engage researchers, industry partners, and regulatory bodies such as the FDA to facilitate collaboration.
• Oversee project management activities, setting objectives, timelines, and resource allocations.
• Apply design‑thinking methodologies to foster user‑centric solutions.
• Build and maintain partnerships with commercial enterprises, innovation hubs, and academic institutions.
• Monitor industry trends and IP landscapes to inform strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years of experience in innovation management, technology commercialization, or related fields.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally without direct line‑management responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, especially FDA guidelines for medical and technological products.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
