EMAP Assistant – Community Protection Support

About the role

The EMAP Assistant will work within the International Rescue Committee’s Integrated Protection Services project in Nowshera, Pakistan. This position supports gender‑based violence (GBV) prevention by facilitating discussions with men and boys, promoting gender equality, and enhancing the safety of women and girls in refugee and host communities.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a women‑, girl‑ and survivor‑centered approach in all activities.
• Conduct community outreach to build relationships with local leaders, groups, and stakeholders.
• Support project teams in organizing focus groups and safe‑space activities that assess risks to women and girls.
• Facilitate single‑gender discussion sessions with men and boys to encourage behavior change.
• Assist in risk reduction and mitigation efforts, ensuring dignity and safety for beneficiaries.
• Collaborate closely with the EMAP Supervisor, district manager, and other project staff.

Required profile

• Passionate about supporting women, girls, and survivors of GBV.
• Enthusiastic about engaging men and boys in protective programming.
• Strong interpersonal skills for community entry and relationship building.
• Commitment to the IRC’s values and protection principles.

Required skills

• Effective communication in community settings.
