Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Disrupt combines hands-on engineering, AI tools and a disciplined delivery method to help teams build and improve software. Its software factory connects business context, specifications, implementation and verification. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you embed with a customer's team, understand how its business works and take responsibility for measurable customer outcomes, working with business users, engineers and the central factory team.

Key responsibilities

• Map the workflow, decision owners, data, dependencies and constraints, agree a worthwhile customer outcome, its baseline and how progress will be measured.
• Turn requirements into working software, connecting APIs, databases and third-party systems and adapting to unfamiliar codebases.
• Run working sessions, explain technical choices clearly and help people adopt a better way of working.
• Capture business rules, decisions and specifications and link them to implementation and acceptance evidence.
• After launch, verify results against the agreed outcome, investigate failures, document how the system operates, train users and respect customer access and data boundaries.
• Identify recurring friction and turn it into reusable integrations, tools or delivery patterns with the central team.
• Balance customer needs with sustainable delivery, make trade-offs visible and surface blockers early.

Required profile

• Proven software delivery: built and supported software used by real people, able to explain contributions and decisions.
• Engineering breadth: strong full-stack foundations, confident with APIs, databases and application logic, able to debug unfamiliar systems.
• Practical AI fluency: experience using coding agents, LLM applications or AI-enabled workflows, able to inspect, test and troubleshoot their output.
• Customer-focused, with systems thinking, clear communication, low ego and a solution-oriented approach.
• Experience in customer-facing delivery roles such as forward-deployed, solutions, implementation, founding engineering or technical consulting.
