Freelance Book Publishing Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a freelance specialist to produce a private family biography for print using Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). You will receive the edited manuscript as a Word document and be responsible for turning it into a print‑ready file.

Key responsibilities

• Format the manuscript to KDP interior specifications, including trim size, margins, bleed, fonts, and page numbering.
• Position images correctly and ensure they meet print resolution requirements.
• Verify that Arabic and Urdu text renders accurately throughout the book.
• Maintain consistent typography and style throughout the interior.
• Set up the KDP submission package – interior file, cover coordination, and metadata.
• Order and review a physical proof copy, flag any print or formatting issues, and obtain final approval.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience publishing books through Amazon KDP, with a portfolio of formatted titles.
• Detail‑oriented approach to producing print‑ready files.
• Clear communication and ability to identify problems early.
• Ability to work independently under a short‑term deadline.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word for book formatting.
• Proficiency with Adobe InDesign.
• Familiarity with Amazon KDP publishing workflow.
• Experience generating print‑ready PDFs.
