Front-End Developer

About the role

Dusk News Pakistan is a fast-growing digital news platform covering stories, social issues and current events across Pakistan and beyond. It is looking for a creative, detail-oriented Front-End Developer to build and maintain high-quality, responsive and interactive web pages and features for its website. The role sits at the intersection of art and programming, working closely with the design, editorial and development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Build, optimise and maintain the front end of the website using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and frameworks such as React, Next.js or Vue.js.
• Ensure the site is mobile-friendly, SEO-optimised and works well across all devices and browsers.
• Integrate dynamic content and templates with WordPress or other CMS platforms.
• Improve site load speed, accessibility and overall UX/UI performance.
• Work with back-end developers, designers, SEO specialists and editors on new features and designs.
• Write clean, reusable and well-documented code, debug issues and make regular updates.
• Implement pixel-perfect designs from the design team and suggest UX improvements.
• Integrate analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Tag Manager so data is captured correctly.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of proven experience as a Front-End Developer.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+)
• Front-end frameworks such as React.js, Next.js or Vue.js (React preferred)
• Git/GitHub version control
• Responsive design principles (mobile-first, Bootstrap, TailwindCSS)
• SEO best practices for front-end development and browser compatibility
• CMS platforms such as WordPress (Elementor is a plus); Figma, Adobe XD or similar tools; basic REST API/GraphQL knowledge and WCAG accessibility are a plus
