Graphic Designer

About the role

Dusk News Pakistan is expanding its creative team and is looking for a passionate, detail-oriented Graphic Designer to create graphics, illustrations and layouts for news articles, social media, campaigns and multimedia projects. The role sits in the Creative / Editorial department, reports to the Creative Director / Managing Editor and is open to remote, Pakistan-based or hybrid work in Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad.

Key responsibilities

• Create graphics for news articles, feature stories, infographics and special reports.
• Design social media posts, banners and motion graphics for Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), LinkedIn and YouTube.
• Develop editorial templates such as thumbnails, quote cards, news alerts and explainer posts.
• Design marketing materials including email headers, event posters, promotional graphics and brand campaigns.
• Collaborate with writers, editors and social media managers on visual storytelling ideas.
• Maintain brand consistency while exploring new design approaches for special projects.
• Edit and retouch images, prepare print-ready files when needed, and assist with basic animation or video editing (preferred but not mandatory).

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Multimedia Arts or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of graphic design experience; experience in a media or news organization is preferred.
• Strong portfolio, especially work for news, media or storytelling; applications without a portfolio will not be considered.
• Understanding of visual hierarchy, typography and colour theory, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with social media content standards (Facebook, Instagram, X); interest in journalism is a bonus.

Required skills

• Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); After Effects is a plus.
• Preferred: basic motion graphics or video editing (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Canva Pro animations).
• Preferred: UI/UX basics and Figma or similar tools.
