Head of Production Planning & Material Control (PPMC)

About the role

The Head of PPMC leads production planning and material control to ensure seamless manufacturing operations. You will be responsible for aligning demand with capacity, guaranteeing material availability, and optimizing inventory across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage production plans and schedules based on demand and plant capacity.
• Ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and CKD/SKD kits to avoid stoppages.
• Manage MRP, material requirements, inventory levels, safety stock, and material shortages.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Suppliers, Production, Quality, Warehouse, and Logistics for smooth material flow.
• Monitor production plan vs. actual output, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct capacity planning and support manpower, shift, and production requirements.
• Control WIP, finished goods, excess/obsolete inventory, and optimize working capital.
• Maintain accurate BOM, material master, production orders, and ERP/SAP transactions.
• Track PPMC KPIs such as plan achievement, material availability, inventory turnover, supplier delivery, and line stoppages.
• Lead and develop the PPMC team, driving continuous improvement and cost optimisation.
• Support new model launches, localisation, and engineering changes from a planning perspective.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field (Master’s/MBA a plus).
• 10–15 years of relevant experience, preferably in automobile/2‑wheeler manufacturing.
• 3–5 years in a managerial or head role leading PPMC functions.
• Strong knowledge of SAP, MRP, production planning, inventory management and supply‑chain processes.
