Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Counselor – 21 Openings

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is launching a short‑term nutrition project funded by UNICEF in seven districts of Punjab, Pakistan. The IYCF Counselor will join a three‑member community outreach team to improve infant and young child feeding practices and early childhood development support at household and community levels.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of IYCF practices among mothers and caregivers with children under 24 months.
• Identify gaps or malpractices and provide one‑to‑one counseling on breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and responsive caregiving.
• Deliver group counseling sessions for mothers, fathers, and community groups, including mother‑to‑mother support meetings.
• Use approved education materials to educate on colostrum, breastfeeding preparation, and complementary feeding.
• Support the Nutrition Facilitator with screening, referral, and follow‑up activities.
• Collaborate closely with the Nutrition Facilitator, Community Outreach Worker, and report to the Program Officer/Project Manager.

Required profile

• Willingness to be based in one of the target districts (Multan, Khanewal, Layyah, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, Rahim Yar Khan).
• Ability to work in field settings and travel within the assigned district.
• Capacity to engage with mothers, fathers, and community groups in group and individual sessions.
