Junior Research Analyst (Agriculture Data)

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Research Analyst to support our agricultural research team. You will work on crop estimation, supply‑and‑demand analysis for the cotton and textile value chain, and help improve our data‑driven decision making.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and supervise research methodology for crop estimation, export/import and textile industry demand.
• Maintain and update databases, time‑series data and contribute to methodology improvements.
• Collect, evaluate and sanity‑check primary and secondary data from official sources, farmer interviews and research institutes.
• Develop automation tools using Excel macros, Power Pivot, Power BI and Python to streamline data updates.
• Estimate cotton production areas and supply‑demand metrics across the entire value chain.
• Identify risks and model scenarios affecting yields, weather, pests, diseases and input costs.
• Conduct surveys with gins, mills and farmers, and reconcile balance‑sheet data.
• Coordinate with agronomists and regional teams for field surveys.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Statistics, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Economics or Statistics.
• 2‑3 years of relevant experience (fresh graduates with strong skill sets are also encouraged).
• Experience in agri‑commodities is preferred.
• Willingness to travel for field work.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (including macros and Power Pivot).
• Power BI for data visualisation.
• Basic SQL knowledge.
• Python coding ability (ability to troubleshoot scripts).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with large data sets.
