Direct Procurement Business Partner

About the role

We are looking for a Direct Procurement Business Partner to own and manage local procurement spend across key Direct Procurement categories such as Packaging, Co‑Formulants, Tolling, Logistics and 3rd Party AI. You will work closely with local suppliers and internal teams to drive cost‑savings, sustainability and compliance in Pakistan.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage spend for all in‑scope Direct Procurement categories.
• Build and maintain relationships with approximately 42 local suppliers, handling performance, risk and contract management.
• Lead cost‑savings and value‑improvement projects, delivering around 12 major initiatives per year.
• Identify and progress sustainability‑linked sourcing solutions across the supply base.
• Partner with Regional Category Managers to adapt regional strategies to local market needs.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) launches, including moulds, packaging, co‑formulant qualification and tolling sourcing.
• Manage supplier compliance with Pakistan regulatory bodies (PSQCA, SFRI).
• Act as the primary local contact between supply chain/commercial teams and suppliers.
• Monitor and mitigate supply, quality and commercial risks, ensuring alignment with Syngenta’s procurement policies and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field; Master’s or procurement certification (e.g., CIPS) is a plus.
• Several years of experience in procurement, category management or supply chain, preferably in agro‑chemical, chemical, FMCG or manufacturing sectors.
• Proven track record in managing supplier relationships, sourcing projects and delivering cost‑savings.
• Working knowledge of Pakistan’s chemical/agro‑chemical regulatory landscape (PSQCA, SFRI) is highly desirable.
• Strong stakeholder management, analytical acumen and negotiation capabilities.
• Fluent in English; proficiency in Urdu preferred.
