Lead Backend Developer – SAP CAP & BTP

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Backend Developer to design and build the core backend of a modern Retail Execution Platform. The role focuses on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) and the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) to deliver scalable, multi‑tenant SaaS solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, design and implement enterprise‑grade backend services using SAP BTP and CAP.
• Create and maintain Core Data Services (CDS) models, HDI container persistence, and reusable business logic.
• Develop secure RESTful and OData APIs for web, mobile and enterprise integrations.
• Configure platform services such as XSUAA, Destination Service, Connectivity Service, Event Mesh and Job Scheduler.
• Ensure reliability through error handling, logging, monitoring, performance optimisation and production support.
• Define coding standards, reusable frameworks and automated testing practices.
• Collaborate with product owners, solution architects, QA, DevOps and other cross‑functional teams.
• Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and SAP BTP governance.
• Promote AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to boost productivity.

Required profile

• 10+ years of enterprise backend software engineering experience.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with SAP BTP and SAP CAP.
• Strong expertise in CDS data modelling and HDI‑based persistence.
• Proven ability to design multi‑tenant, scalable SaaS architectures.
• Experience guiding engineering teams and establishing development standards.
