Lead Strategic Procurement - Smart Infrastructure

About the role

Siemens Smart Infrastructure is looking for an experienced Lead of Strategic Procurement in Karachi to develop and execute its sourcing strategy. The role drives systematic market, demand and supplier analysis to shape a feasible, optimized purchasing strategy that balances quality, on-time delivery, price competitiveness, logistics efficiency and service excellence, while ensuring compliance with procurement policy and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Sourcing strategy for key commodities such as cabinets and structures, mechanical assemblies, epoxy components, CT/VT, meters and relays, other electrical parts and project procurement; supplier selection, contract negotiations and commercial agreements
• Annual cost reduction and value engineering initiatives
• Services contracts with in-house vendors
• Identify, evaluate, develop and qualify new suppliers and service providers, and build strategic partnerships to improve quality, delivery, innovation and cost competitiveness
• Ensure supply continuity and mitigate supply chain risks
• Apply technical knowledge of medium and low voltage electrical products and collaborate with Engineering and R&D on product localization, design optimization and new product development
• Lead commercial negotiations, analyze commodity trends, develop procurement budgets and forecasts, negotiate payment terms and support prebids for large projects
• Drive digitalization and automation using ERP, SAP and digital procurement tools, and implement best practices in sourcing and supplier performance monitoring
• Champion sustainable procurement, ESG initiatives and supplier sustainability assessments, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations
• Lead, develop and mentor a procurement team and work with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree
• 15 to 20 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement or supply chain management
• Significant experience in electrical equipment, switchgear, power distribution or industrial manufacturing
• Prior experience leading procurement teams and driving supplier development programs
• Supply chain certifications are an added advantage
