Manager, Storage and Backup

About the role

Sky47 is seeking a senior Manager of Storage and Backup to lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise‑grade backup solutions across on‑premises, hybrid, and multi‑cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full backup lifecycle, including job scheduling, retention policies, and SLA compliance.
• Design and deploy enterprise backup tools across hybrid infrastructures.
• Configure multi‑tier storage for backups, including deduplication appliances, tape libraries, and object storage.
• Ensure application‑aware backups for databases and enterprise applications such as Exchange, SQL Server, Oracle, and SAP HANA.
• Conduct regular recovery testing, including granular, bare‑metal, and full‑workload restores.
• Implement immutable and air‑gapped backup repositories and manage replication to DR sites.
• Automate reporting, alerting, and compliance dashboards.
• Troubleshoot job failures, deduplication anomalies, and restore delays.
• Maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, and incident‑response playbooks.
• Lead and mentor storage/backup teams, fostering upskilling on emerging platforms.

Required profile

• 10–15 years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure operations and data‑center environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience designing backup policies, retention compliance, and tiered storage solutions.
• Strong background in disaster‑recovery planning, replication, and snapshot management.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as PCI‑DSS, ISO 27001, and GDPR.
