Mechanical Fitter

About the role

Utopia Industries, a leading plastics manufacturer in Karachi, is looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join its production team. You will be responsible for installing, assembling, repairing, and maintaining machinery to keep the plant running efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical faults, diagnose root causes, and execute corrective repairs.
• Assemble, fit, and align shafts, bearings, couplings, and other rotating equipment, ensuring precise measurements.
• Remove and replace worn parts, fabricate simple components, and support the shop’s fabrication needs.
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures, maintain a clean work area, and report safety hazards.
• Document maintenance activities, log work orders, and update supervisors on status.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on maintenance experience in manufacturing (extrusion, injection molding preferred).
• Proven ability to work with industrial machinery and interpret mechanical drawings.
• Strong physical stamina and commitment to safety protocols.

Required skills

• Bearing, shaft, coupling, gearbox, belt, and chain handling.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system maintenance.
• Use of micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators, and alignment tools.
• Basic welding, cutting, and light fabrication.
• Preventive maintenance practices.
