Mechanical Supervisor – Tank Inspection

About the role

The Mechanical Supervisor will lead inspection and supervision of storage tank construction projects, ensuring compliance with API 650, API 653 and project specifications. This onsite role reports to the Project Manager/Inspection Lead and works closely with construction, QA/QC, contractor and client teams.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and monitor all tank construction activities against approved drawings and API standards.
• Review material test certificates (MTCs), welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and witness Welder Qualification Tests.
• Verify plate marking, rolling, curb angles, wind girders, and structural component installation.
• Supervise bottom and shell plate fit‑up, reinforcement, welding sequences, and post‑weld inspections.
• Witness and document diesel, pneumatic, vacuum, and hydrostatic testing, as well as shell plumbness, roundness, peaking and banding checks.
• Inspect piping fit‑up, gasket installation, electrode baking, and heat‑treatment of cleanout doors.
• Maintain accurate NDT records, daily progress reports and inspection documentation.
• Support timely project completion while upholding quality, safety and client requirements.

Required profile

• DAE Mechanical with minimum 12 years of tank inspection experience OR BE Mechanical with minimum 8 years.
• Mandatory API 653 certification.
• Proven experience supervising storage tank construction projects.
