Meter Inspection Manager

About the role

The Meter Inspection Manager leads a team responsible for reducing distribution losses by monitoring energy flow, detecting theft, and ensuring accurate metering across the network. This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on field management to improve billing accuracy and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction to the meter inspection and loss‑monitoring teams.
• Oversee loss‑reduction initiatives, including discouraging illegal hook‑connections and promoting metered connections.
• Coordinate theft‑detection activities, ensure corrective actions, and liaise with relevant departments.
• Supervise consumer mapping processes (initial and conformation mapping) to maintain accurate connection records.
• Identify high‑loss feeders/PMTs, drive sweeping programmes, and implement corrective measures.
• Prioritise daily field work, ensure proper training, PPE usage, and safety compliance for all field staff.
• Conduct regular site spot‑checks, performance reviews, and KPI monitoring for the inspection teams.
• Prepare and present performance analysis reports to senior management.

Required profile

• B.E./B.Sc. in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 5‑7 years of relevant experience in utility loss monitoring, meter inspection, or related fields.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and drive strategic initiatives.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and safety requirements in the electricity distribution sector.
