Platform Engineer

About the role

Teradata is seeking a Platform Engineer to join its Site Reliability Engineering team. The role focuses on maintaining 24/5 platform availability, building and operating cloud‑native infrastructure, and driving cost‑optimization across AWS and Azure environments.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in a shift‑based rotation to ensure continuous platform coverage and respond to incidents outside standard business hours.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for internal customers and partners.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using AWS CloudFormation and the AWS CDK to automate resource provisioning.
• Own FinOps activities: monitor cloud spend, set budget alerts, generate cost reports, and lead cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Create and support shared platform services and self‑service tooling to reduce operational toil.
• Apply AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Claude Desktop to accelerate code review, documentation, and automation tasks.
• Establish SRE best practices, including error budgets, SLAs, and observability standards, and act as an escalation point for critical incidents.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of SRE principles and cloud infrastructure reliability.
• Experience working in a shift‑based, 24/5 operational environment.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and mentor junior engineers.
