Project Engineer - PLC/SCADA, Electrical, ATG & Site Works

About the role

Avanceon, a global system integrator in control, instrumentation and automation, is hiring a Project Engineer (Execution Lead) in Karachi for its PMT-South department. Reporting to the Head of Projects, the role oversees the entire field execution lifecycle: technically correct installation, smooth commissioning and successful handover of PLC/SCADA systems, industrial electrical works and Automatic Tank Gauging (ATG) installations, while managing resources safely and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation, wiring and termination of PLC/SCADA panels, RTUs, communication networks and hardware, and support control teams through I/O checks, logic validation, interlock testing and communication setup.
• Oversee electrical panels, MCCs, VFDs, power cables, grounding and circuit protection, and lead pre-energization tests such as insulation resistance and continuity checks.
• Supervise ATG probe, sensor, console and cabling installation, probe calibration, alarm checks and integration with PLC/SCADA or Tank Management Systems, in line with OEM guidelines.
• Plan and supervise daily activities for technicians, fitters, electricians and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with drawings, method statements, ITPs and QA/QC.
• Manage manpower, site logistics and tool readiness, and liaise with engineering, procurement, OEMs and customers.
• Lead final testing (loop checks, functional and network tests), close punch lists and support system handover and customer acceptance.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 5-10+ years of direct experience in automation, PLC/SCADA systems, industrial electrical execution and ATG installations.
• Preferred: direct field execution experience in oil & gas terminals, utilities or industrial bulk handling.
• Proven team supervision, resource management and multi-site coordination, with strong communication and leadership skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of PLC/SCADA architectures, field instrumentation, MCC/VFD systems and ATG equipment.
• Hands-on installation supervision, troubleshooting, loop checks and commissioning.
• Reading wiring diagrams, GA drawings, P&IDs, loop sheets and control philosophies.
