Psychologist – MHPSS, Haripur

About the role

The International Rescue Committee's Integrated Services project in Pakistan aims to improve the safety, dignity and well-being of Afghan refugees and host communities in Haripur and Nowshera districts. The Psychologist leads the implementation of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities, with a focus on culturally sensitive interventions for vulnerable individuals and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and implement structured MHPSS interventions tailored to target populations.
• Facilitate psychosocial support sessions for individuals, families and groups.
• Deliver Psychological First Aid training for health facility staff and community workers.
• Develop and run mental health awareness campaigns to reduce stigma.
• Advocate for mental health promotion with community leaders and stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain referral pathways to specialized mental health care.
• Coordinate with protection teams, healthcare providers and other stakeholders.
• Mentor and supervise staff to build capacity in MHPSS services.
• Monitor, review and document the impact of interventions, and prepare progress and impact reports.

Required profile

• Master's degree in psychology.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience implementing MHPSS programs, case management and counseling services.
• Experience working directly with women, girls and children in field settings.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English, Urdu and local languages.

Required skills

• Knowledge of designing, developing, implementing and evaluating GBV, MHPSS and protection programs.
• Understanding of MHPSS and GBV core principles, counseling, gender issues in Baluchistan and KP, and child protection risks.
• Excellent report writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Case management and individualized support to high-risk individuals.
