Quantity Surveyor - MEP

About the role

AL-Awan Construction & Electric Works Co. is hiring a skilled, detail-oriented and technically competent Quantity Surveyor for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) works. The post covers quantity take-offs, cost estimation, BOQ preparation, tendering, billing and commercial management of MEP works on construction projects, based in Islamabad or at the project site.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and verify Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for MEP works.
• Take off quantities from MEP drawings, specifications and design documents.
• Prepare cost estimates, material take-offs, rate analyses and project budgets.
• Review tender documents and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Measure and verify completed site work for progress billing and payment applications.
• Prepare and review interim payment applications, subcontractor bills and final accounts.
• Identify, evaluate and document variations, additional works and potential claims.
• Monitor project costs against approved budgets and report variances.
• Coordinate with MEP engineers, project managers, procurement, consultants and subcontractors.
• Maintain quantity records, measurement sheets, cost reports and commercial documentation.
• Support material forecasting, procurement planning and value-engineering.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related technical discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience in MEP quantity surveying within construction.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, drainage and firefighting systems.
• Ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, technical specifications and BOQs.
• Knowledge of cost estimation, rate analysis, contract administration, billing and variation management.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with quantity take-off or estimation software is an advantage.
• Analytical, numerical, communication and coordination skills.
