Senior Accountant – UK Practice (ACCA Qualified)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant with at least three years of experience in a UK accountancy practice. The successful candidate will be ACCA‑qualified or a finalist and will manage a diverse client portfolio, delivering high‑quality compliance and advisory services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely filing of accounts, corporation tax, VAT and self‑assessment returns.
• Review and close fortnightly/monthly bookkeeping, preparing accurate management accounts.
• Provide tax planning support for corporation tax and self‑assessment, including relief claims and client advice.
• Review work prepared by junior team members, offering guidance to maintain quality.
• Prepare and review year‑end accounts, corporation tax returns and self‑assessment tax returns.
• Communicate directly with clients, HMRC and other stakeholders in a professional manner.
• Assist directors with advisory work and technical queries as required.

Required profile

• ACCA member or finalist (awaiting membership approval).
• Minimum three years of experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong understanding of UK tax compliance and advisory work.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero and QuickBooks (mandatory).
• Familiarity with Zoho, TaxCalc, FreeAgent and advanced Excel (preferred).
