Senior Associate – Legal Analysis (REMIT Programme)

About the role

The Senior Associate – Legal Analysis will support the REMIT Programme’s effort to transition Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) away from profit‑based incentives. Working with the Board of Investment, the Special Investment Facilitation Council and a multidisciplinary technical team, the role focuses on legal and regulatory assessment of the SEZ Phase‑Out and Transition Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Review federal and provincial legislation, rules, regulations and contractual arrangements governing Pakistan’s SEZs.
• Identify legal constraints, risks and reform requirements linked to the SEZ Phase‑Out and Transition Plan.
• Assess implications of proposed policy changes on investor protections, contractual obligations and domestic law compliance.
• Support the Board of Investment, the Special Investment Facilitation Council and the broader technical team in drafting legally robust reform recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with the SEZ Legal Expert and other team members to ensure alignment with Pakistan’s broader investment and economic reform objectives.

Required profile

• Legal background with experience in regulatory and contractual analysis, preferably in investment or economic development contexts.
• Familiarity with Pakistan’s legal framework for SEZs or comparable jurisdictions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary technical team.
• Strong analytical and written communication skills.
