Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with at least six years of software development experience. You will join a full‑stack team, primarily focusing on backend services while also contributing to frontend code when needed. The role involves designing robust, API‑based and data‑streaming solutions that support a regulated product used in clinical trials.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain core functionality for our applications.
• Design scalable, high‑performance RESTful APIs and data‑streaming services.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Platform teams to enable automated deployment, redeployment, and infrastructure recovery using IaC.
• Work closely with engineers, product owners, and customers to refine features and ensure outcomes.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code with a test‑automation‑first mindset.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve bugs and performance issues.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand‑ups and sprint planning.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong background in at least one backend language (Python, Java, Node.js).
• Experience with frontend technologies (TypeScript, React) and web fundamentals (HTTP, HTML, CSS, REST, JSON, OpenAPI).
• Hands‑on experience with relational or document databases.
• Familiarity with unit testing, BDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber), and data‑streaming platforms (Kafka or similar).
• Proficiency with AWS services, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions), and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming and Agile methodologies.
