Senior Backend Engineer – Real‑time ETA & Routing

About the role

Careem’s Marketplace ETA & Routing team builds the core services that calculate delivery times and routing for all verticals, from food to taxis. As a Senior Software Engineer I, you will own highly reliable backend systems that power real‑time ETA computation at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for ETA and routing.
• Write clean, performant Golang code and deliver end‑to‑end features independently.
• Translate functional specifications into production‑grade solutions.
• Implement rigorous testing (unit, integration, end‑to‑end) with a reliability‑first mindset.
• Participate in on‑call rotation, responding to incidents within defined SLAs.
• Contribute to agile processes and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
• Collaborate with engineers across Jordan, Pakistan, and Dubai, fostering technical excellence.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of professional software development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Hands‑on experience with Golang or another modern OOP language.
• Strong fundamentals in object‑oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.

Required skills

• Golang (primary language of the stack).
• Java, C#, C++, Kotlin (experience with at least one modern OOP language).
• Object‑oriented design, data structures, algorithms.
