Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

About the role

Kake is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and scale a platform that blends cloud infrastructure, data intelligence, and AI. You will work remotely within a small, collaborative team, owning architecture decisions and delivering high‑impact features for enterprise customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, Express, Python, and FastAPI.
• Build and optimise databases, data‑processing workflows, and cloud‑native solutions on Google Cloud.
• Integrate with AI platforms and Large Language Models such as OpenAI, Gemini, and Anthropic.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering to define technical solutions.
• Improve performance, reliability, and scalability of the platform.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues while enhancing observability.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and guide the technical direction.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in TypeScript/Node.js/Express and Python/FastAPI.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimisation, performance tuning).
• Experience building production‑grade distributed systems on GCP or similar clouds.
• Familiarity with serverless architectures and cloud‑native services.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot production systems and implement observability best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently in a remote, fast‑paced environment.
