Senior Backend Software Engineer (.NET)

About the role

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer you will design, build and maintain the distributed services that power Ahoy’s movement and logistics platform. Working primarily with C#/.NET on Azure, you will shape high‑performance, scalable APIs and ensure they run reliably in production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain micro‑services and RESTful APIs using ASP.NET Core and Entity Framework Core.
• Model robust relational schemas and write high‑performance queries for SQL Server (and optionally PostgreSQL).
• Implement messaging and event‑driven workflows with Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Apply Clean/Onion Architecture principles to keep code modular, testable and maintainable.
• Own the full delivery pipeline: automated testing, CI/CD (Azure DevOps), containerisation, logging and telemetry on Azure.
• Conduct peer code reviews, mentor junior and mid‑level developers and enforce engineering best practices (SOLID, TDD, DDD).
• Diagnose production issues, optimise performance and drive continuous reliability improvements.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional backend development experience with .NET 5+ and C#.
• Deep knowledge of ASP.NET Core, REST API design and Entity Framework Core.
• Proven expertise with SQL databases, schema design and query optimisation, preferably SQL Server.
• Hands‑on experience with messaging or event‑driven architectures in production.
• Solid understanding of Clean/Onion Architecture, SOLID principles and automated testing.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or similar).
• Excellent communication skills in English and a track record of technical mentorship.
