Senior Textile Designer

About the role

Shehla Chatoor, a luxury South Asian haute couture brand founded in Karachi in 1995, is hiring a full-time, on-site Senior Textile Designer for its Karachi Division studio. The designer develops textile concepts such as print, weave and embroidery directions that fit the brand's luxury positioning, and works in a high-end, fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Research trends, motifs, colours and materials, and turn them into cohesive textile stories for seasonal collections.
• Oversee sampling and provide clear design specifications to in-house artisans.
• Review and refine strike-offs.
• Maintain design archives and documentation.

Required profile

• Degree from a reputable and recognised university in textile design.
• At least 2-3 years of experience as a textile designer for a fashion brand.
• Demonstrated experience in senior-level textile design roles, ideally in couture or high-end ready-to-wear.
• Strong sense of colour, composition and trend awareness, with an eye for South Asian and global fashion influences.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with creative and production teams.

Required skills

• Expertise in textiles and textile prints, including high-end fabrics, patterns and surface designs.
• Proficiency in embroidery design and embellishment, with detailed artwork and specifications for luxury couture.
• Advanced graphics skills for textile applications, including digital print layouts and repeat patterns.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
