Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

The Site Reliability Engineer owns reliability engineering for Jonas Club's hosted and SaaS environment on Microsoft Azure. This role defines service-level objectives, leads incident response, and drives observability and automation to keep client‑facing systems reliable.

Key responsibilities

• Define, own, and continuously refine SLIs and SLOs, using error‑budget burn to guide priorities.
• Own the reliability roadmap, balancing new feature delivery with system stability.
• Design and maintain monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing (Azure Monitor, New Relic, etc.).
• Build dashboards and alerts that provide early signals of degrading reliability.
• Act as senior technical escalation point and incident commander for high‑severity incidents.
• Lead post‑incident reviews, root‑cause analysis, and track remediation to closure.
• Automate repetitive operational work using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep) and scripting.
• Develop self‑healing and auto‑remediation capabilities.
• Lead capacity planning and performance engineering across hybrid Azure, legacy, and data‑center environments.
• Track and report DORA metrics alongside SLIs/SLOs to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Six+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Operations, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Proven experience owning production reliability for a SaaS or hosted platform.
• Experience leading or acting as senior responder during high‑severity incidents.

Required skills

• Microsoft Azure (compute, networking, storage, identity, security).
• Windows and Linux administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning.
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, ARM, Bicep.
• Scripting: PowerShell, Bash, Python.
• Monitoring and observability tools: Azure Monitor, New Relic, Datadog.
• Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes/AKS.
• CI/CD pipelines and release practices: Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of DORA metrics, SLI/SLO/error‑budget frameworks.
