Software Engineer I – NextGen Programme

About the role

Careem is looking for a Software Engineer I to join its NextGen Programme. This is an entry‑level position designed for fresh graduates or candidates with up to two years of experience, offering exposure to a wide range of technologies across the Careem platform.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance distributed backend services using Java 8, Spring Boot and micro‑service architecture.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as AWS infrastructure.
• Contribute to mobile (iOS/Android) and web front‑end components.
• Maintain code quality through clean coding practices, SOLID principles, testing and documentation.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers and other engineers in an agile, cross‑functional team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Up to two years of professional or academic experience in software development.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented design, data structures and algorithms.
• Ability to solve loosely defined problems and adapt to fast‑changing requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
