Spatial Data Infrastructure Specialist

About the role

The Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) Specialist will lead the planning, design, and implementation of enterprise and public‑sector SDI projects, ensuring alignment with international standards and organizational goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop SDI strategies, roadmaps, operating models, reference architectures and technical standards.
• Design and implement scalable SDI components such as geoportals, metadata catalogues, spatial repositories, discovery services, APIs and geospatial web services.
• Define end‑to‑end data pipelines for vector, raster, imagery and remote‑sensing data, covering acquisition to archival.
• Establish governance frameworks for data ownership, licensing, access control, privacy, security and inter‑agency sharing.
• Guide integration of spatial databases and GIS platforms with enterprise systems, cloud services and analytics platforms.
• Conduct technical assessments, feasibility studies, gap analyses and risk assessments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in GIS, SDI, geospatial systems or enterprise architecture.
• Master’s degree in GIS, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Computer Science or related field.
• Strong analytical, documentation and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Proven ability to translate business and policy requirements into technical designs.

Required skills

• PostGIS, GeoServer, MapServer, QGIS, ArcGIS Enterprise, GeoNetwork.
• STAC, COG and related data formats.
• Understanding of OGC and ISO geospatial standards.
• Experience with cloud architecture, containerization, high availability, backup/recovery and cybersecurity.
