Spring Technical Lead / Architect

About the role

ByteCrew Technologies is expanding its Spring Framework Modernisation Practice and seeks a Spring Technical Lead / Architect to drive large‑scale upgrade initiatives across multiple Java services. The role combines strategic planning, hands‑on migration work, and mentorship to ensure a smooth transition to the latest Spring LTS releases.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the upgrade strategy for portfolios of 100–500+ Java services.
• Create migration patterns, refactoring playbooks, and sprint‑based acceptance criteria.
• Author and customise OpenRewrite recipes for automated, large‑scale code transformation.
• Design upgrade paths for Spring Boot 2.x to 3.x migrations, including Java 17+, Jakarta EE namespace changes, and dependency updates.
• Conduct security baseline assessments and dependency risk reviews.
• Lead knowledge‑transfer workshops with client development and platform teams.
• Review complex migration pull requests and mentor engineers on best practices.
• Coordinate with framework vendor support and interface with client architecture teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of Java/Spring experience, with at least 3 years in an architect or lead capacity.
• Deep expertise in Spring Framework 4/5/6 and Spring Boot 1/2/3.
• Hands‑on experience migrating 50+ applications to Spring Boot 2.x/3.x.
• Strong proficiency in OpenRewrite recipe authoring and customisation.
• Solid knowledge of Spring Security, CVE remediation, and secure coding patterns.
• Fluent professional English.
