Staff Writer - APAC Credit News

About the role

Octus, a global provider of credit intelligence, data and analytics, is hiring a Staff Writer based in Pakistan to join its APAC Core Credit team. The team consists of journalists, financial analysts and lawyers working across the Asia-Pacific region. The writer focuses on turning press releases and company announcements into news articles, with a strong emphasis on speed, accuracy and clarity; a background in writing about business or financial news is essential.

Key responsibilities

• Write breaking news stories based on company announcements and third-party content.
• Aggregate third-party content, adding insights and contributing to Octus's database collections.
• Support a team of journalists, financial analysts and lawyers.
• Follow editorial standards, workflows and processes.
• Monitor news articles, press releases and other sources for key developments.
• Work in shifts, including morning, afternoon and/or night rotations, to cover news 24/7.
• Write weekend announcements before each week starts and provide regional crossover support when needed.

Required profile

• Wire service, newsroom or similar experience.
• Ability to learn the subject matter quickly and to turn complex information into concise stories.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with strong news judgment.
• Experience or interest in financial news and markets.
• Preferably based in Islamabad.
