Systems Administrator - AIX / Linux

About the role

This role covers the administration and support of AIX and Linux operating systems, enterprise SAN storage systems, and their lifecycle maintenance. It includes performance tuning, security compliance, root cause analysis and 24/7 support, working closely with application, database and network teams.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain AIX and Linux servers across production, development and testing environments
• Install, configure and optimize operating systems and infrastructure components
• Manage storage provisioning, decommissioning and performance across SAN environments
• Ensure server stability, availability and compliance with IT policies
• Handle system upgrades, migrations, backups and disaster recovery planning
• Automate tasks with Shell / Bash scripts
• Monitor SLA adherence, vendor escalations and support contracts; conduct audits against OEM best practices
• Deliver 24/7 support and timely incident resolution
• Contribute to operational improvements through research and technical recommendations
• Secondary: design secure, scalable system architectures, perform capacity planning, health checks and monitoring, and document work with Microsoft Office tools

Required profile

• MSc in Computer Science or BCS degree
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with IBM AIX, RHEL and other Linux distributions (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian)
• Expert knowledge of AIX LVM, LPAR profiles, PowerVM administration, AIX installation and HMC administration
• Experience with Huawei, NetApp and IBM storage systems and managed services environments
• Certification in AIX / Linux preferred
