Unit Head – Data Science (AVP / VP)

About the role

The National Bank of Pakistan is seeking a senior leader to head its Data Science unit. This role reports to the Wing Head BI Advance Analytics and will drive AI and analytics initiatives across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement data science frameworks aligned with business objectives.
• Oversee data science portfolios for consistency, scalability, and alignment.
• Collaborate with business, IT, and analytics teams to create actionable AI/ML models and solutions.
• Drive data governance, model performance tracking, and KPI definition.
• Lead workshops, steering committees, and mentor high‑performing data science teams.
• Evaluate and adopt Generative AI and Agentic AI use cases from proof‑of‑concept to enterprise rollout.

Required profile

• Minimum graduation in Business Administration, Economics, Computer Science, IT, Engineering or equivalent; Masters preferred.
• At least 6 years of experience in Banking, Telecom, FinTech, Capital Markets or Technology Services, including 3 years in Data Science, Analytics, Machine Learning or AI.
• Hands‑on experience with Generative AI, Large Language Models, prompt engineering, RAG and foundation‑model deployment.
