Unit Head – Environmental, Social & Governance (AVP/VP)

About the role

The Unit Head – ESG will lead the development and implementation of the bank’s ESG reporting framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and stakeholder expectations. Reporting to the Wing Head of ESG, this position plays a pivotal role in integrating sustainability into risk management and business processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the bank’s ESG policies, processes, governance arrangements and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with business units to collect, validate and consolidate ESG data for disclosures to senior management, board committees, regulators and other stakeholders.
• Prepare ESG reports and disclosures, track emerging ESG standards, and provide summaries of relevant developments.
• Maintain ESG data metrics, reporting templates and documentation, escalating data gaps or control weaknesses as needed.
• Support integration of ESG and climate considerations into the bank’s risk management and business frameworks.
• Monitor ESG commitments, targets, KPIs and action plans, delivering periodic progress updates.
• Assist in ESG awareness, training and guidance initiatives across the bank.
• Collaborate with internal audit, compliance and regulatory bodies on ESG reviews and reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum graduation (first class) or master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Environmental Sciences or related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in financial institutions, audit or consulting firms, with a minimum of 2 years focused on climate risk, environmental risk, green banking, sustainability or ESG.
• Strong analytical, project management and stakeholder management abilities.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of data analysis, reporting and presentation, including handling large datasets.
• Good knowledge of ESG/sustainability concepts and emerging reporting standards.
