Unit Head – Risk Review (AVP/VP)

About the role

The National Bank of Pakistan is seeking an experienced professional to lead its Risk Review unit within the Retail and Program Lending Division. Reporting to the Wing Head – Risk Governance & Control, the Unit Head will ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal audit requirements across retail and program lending portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and respond to internal, external and regulatory audits for retail and program lending.
• Review audit findings, identify root causes and drive timely corrective actions.
• Liaise with product, operations and credit policy teams to align processes with policies and regulatory expectations.
• Track and report audit and regulatory observation closures to senior management.
• Conduct compliance checks, highlight violations and assess potential risks.
• Facilitate internal and external audit processes and ensure observation closure within agreed timelines.
• Deliver awareness sessions on compliance issues for business and support teams.
• Maintain an audit/inspection repository for reference and trend analysis.
• Perform any other assignments as directed by supervisors.

Required profile

• Minimum graduation; a master’s degree or relevant professional certification is preferred.
• At least 6 years of experience in regulatory compliance, internal audit, or risk management within a commercial bank.
• Experience in large‑scale or public‑sector organizations is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of retail lending products, operational risk and control frameworks.
• High integrity, analytical mindset and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of SBP Prudential Regulations, Risk Management Framework and Audit Methodologies.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities for interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
