Vaccinator - EPI Immunization

About the role

The Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan (AKHS, P), part of the Aga Khan Development Network, is looking for an experienced Vaccinator in Astore, Pakistan, reporting to the District Coordinator. The Vaccinator prepares and administers routine vaccines to children aged 0-23 months and pregnant women at fixed, outreach and mobile centres, following national EPI guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and run monthly outreach sessions with the district EPI team to reach missed, zero-dose and defaulter children.
• Give parents health education on the immunization schedule, next doses and managing common AEFI events at home.
• Keep vaccines properly stored, handled and transported under the cold chain, and record daily fridge temperatures.
• Maintain accurate records of vaccine stock and distribution to avoid stock-outs.
• Enter daily vaccination data into tally sheets, registers, NEIR and SNIP, calculate monthly coverage and dropout rates, and prepare coverage reports.
• Work with AKRSP, LHWs and the district EPI management team on outreach planning, and take part in EPI review meetings and capacity-building training.

Required profile

• Matriculation, preferably graduation; a recognized diploma/certificate in medical technology, nursing, dispensing technician or midwifery.
• At least 6 months of hands-on experience in routine immunization in EPI.
• Strong knowledge of immunization principles, safe vaccine preparation, administration and cold chain management.
• Ability to work under pressure, be polite and respectful to patients and the community, and speak and understand local languages.
• Legally eligible to work in Pakistan; no canvassing allowed.
