Assistant Director (SRD Pesticide)

About the role

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) is recruiting on behalf of the National Agri-Trade and Food Safety Authority (NAFSA), which is being set up to strengthen Pakistan's agri-trade ecosystem through better regulatory oversight, facilitation and modernisation of food safety and trade processes. The selected candidate will join NAFSA's foundational team and help build its systems, processes and institutional capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Support drafting and updating pesticide regulatory policies, standards, guidelines and technical instructions.
• Compile scientific evidence and international references (FAO/WHO guidance, MRL standards, scientific literature) to support policy decisions and justifications.
• Assist in preparing regulatory frameworks for evaluation of active ingredients, formulations, equivalence and risk assessment inputs.
• Maintain pesticide-related standards registers and document amendments and stakeholder consultations.
• Prepare briefs, technical notes and routine correspondence on pesticide regulation and compliance.
• Coordinate internal consultations with OW, risk assessment and provincial stakeholders for implementable policy outcomes.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the reporting officer.

Required profile

• B.Sc. (Hons.) (minimum sixteen years of education) in Agriculture (Plant Protection/Entomology, Weed Science), Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in pesticide regulatory support, standards assistance or analytical/lab work.
• Understanding of pesticide regulatory concepts and MRL principles (preferred).
