Associate Dean – Undergraduate Nursing Education

About the role

The School of Nursing & Midwifery at Aga Khan University seeks an Associate Dean to lead undergraduate nursing education. This senior academic role reports directly to the Dean and is responsible for shaping curriculum, ensuring quality, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of all undergraduate nursing and midwifery programmes, ensuring curricula are inclusive and culturally responsive.
• Lead academic development, including curriculum design, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Champion innovative teaching methods across classroom, clinical, simulation‑based, and digital learning environments.
• Ensure compliance with national and international accreditation and regulatory standards.
• Develop and execute strategies to strengthen student recruitment, sustain enrolment, and enhance student engagement.
• Oversee educational audits of clinical placement sites and collaborate with AKU Health Systems to guarantee high‑quality clinical learning experiences.
• Promote evidence‑based clinical practice and innovative research within undergraduate programmes.
• Plan, implement, and budget strategic initiatives related to undergraduate nursing education.

Required profile

• Reports to the Dean of the School of Nursing & Midwifery.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, pluralism, and high‑quality nursing education.
• Experience in academic leadership and curriculum governance in nursing or midwifery.
