Associate Researcher (Clinical Research)

About the role

Shalamar Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS), Lahore, is looking for three full-time, on-site Research Associates for its Department of Clinical Research. The role is hands-on, covering the research process from the initial question through data collection, analysis, publication and implementation, and involves working with patients, students and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Support clinical research and patient-facing activities in the Hypertension Clinic and Vascular Ageing Programme.
• Recruit participants, obtain informed consent, collect accurate data and coordinate follow-up.
• Develop study protocols, questionnaires, ethics submissions and research documentation.
• Manage and check datasets, review literature and contribute to statistical analysis and interpretation.
• Prepare abstracts, papers, posters, presentations and reports.
• Support community research, screening camps and patient education, and help organise research workshops and student training.

Required profile

• MBBS graduates are preferred, especially those who have completed their house job and are interested in clinical and community research.
• Applicants with postgraduate qualifications in Pharmacology, Public Health or related health sciences are also welcome.
• Previous research, clinical, fieldwork or project experience; publications are an advantage.
• Early-career applicants who are willing to learn are encouraged to apply.

Required skills

• Competence in MS Office.
• Familiarity with reference-management software and SPSS, R, Stata or similar tools is an advantage.
• Understanding of research ethics and confidentiality.
