Chief Operating Officer – Commercial

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer – Commercial will steer the overall commercial business of Martin Dow Limited, overseeing a portfolio valued at roughly PKR 20 billion across ten therapeutic areas. Reporting to senior leadership, the COO will provide strategic direction to Business Unit heads and the Sales & Marketing organization to ensure sustainable growth, profitability and market leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.
• Own commercial P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, pricing, resource allocation and profitability management.
• Provide strategic guidance to ten business portfolios, prioritising investments and resources.
• Drive revenue growth, market share expansion and profitable execution across all units.
• Lead Sales and Marketing functions, enhancing sales force effectiveness, brand positioning and customer engagement.
• Leverage market trends, competitive intelligence and customer insights to identify new opportunities.
• Oversee product lifecycle management, new launches, licensing and portfolio expansion initiatives.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Finance, Supply Chain, Medical, Regulatory, HR and other departments.
• Build and maintain relationships with KOLs, healthcare professionals and key industry partners.
• Mentor Business Unit Directors and senior commercial talent, strengthening succession planning.
• Ensure all commercial activities comply with pharmaceutical regulations and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 20 years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Significant senior commercial or business leadership experience, managing multiple portfolios and large sales & marketing teams.
• PharmD or MBBS preferred; MBA or relevant master’s degree highly desirable.
• Proven track record of delivering revenue growth, market share gains and profitable performance.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking and stakeholder management capabilities.
