Chief Reservoir Engineer

About the role

The Chief Reservoir Engineer is the senior technical authority for reservoir engineering at MariEnergies. Reporting to the Director of Reservoir Development & Management, the role sets technical standards, provides independent assurance and advises senior stakeholders on complex reservoir risks and value opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Define and enforce reservoir engineering standards, best practices, workflows and technical assurance processes across all operated and non‑operated assets.
• Lead independent reviews of reservoir appraisal, field development planning, depletion strategies, surveillance, production forecasting and performance evaluation to maximise long‑term asset value.
• Oversee reservoir characterization, dynamic simulation, history matching, uncertainty analysis, material balance, pressure transient analysis, rate/production analysis, decline curve analysis, PVT/SCAL, reserves and resources studies.
• Direct fluid‑characterization and PVT workflows, including sampling strategy, laboratory study design, data quality control, model selection and reconciliation of laboratory results with field behaviour.
• Assure reservoir simulation and forecasting processes, ensuring robust model builds, uncertainty ranges, production profiles and recovery factor assessments.

Required profile

• Senior technical authority in reservoir engineering with extensive experience in upstream oil and gas projects.
• Proven ability to influence outcomes through technical standards, independent assurance and advisory influence rather than line management.
• Strong track record of integrating subsurface perspectives with development, operations and commercial inputs.
