Clearance Support Agent

About the role

DHL is looking for a Clearance Support Agent to join its customer-centric team and help customers get their goods through customs quickly and accurately. The agent supports the timely customs clearance of inbound and outbound shipments by checking documents, following up on pending shipments and keeping records accurate.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the availability and accuracy of shipment information and documentation needed for customs clearance.
• Review shipment details and customs documents to spot missing information, discrepancies or regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with customers and internal stakeholders to obtain documents, information and approvals.
• Monitor clearance status and follow up on pending shipments to meet clearance and transit time targets.
• Assist in coordinating customs duties and taxes, including timely payment follow-up and accurate recording.
• Liaise with Customs, Gateway Operations and other stakeholders to resolve routine shipment issues.
• Support shipments held in bond and keep accurate shipment records in the systems.
• Escalate complex issues to the Customs Clearance Supervisor and ensure compliance with customs regulations, DHL policies and information security requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business Administration, Commerce or a related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in customs clearance, logistics, freight forwarding or express delivery is an advantage.
• Good understanding of shipment documentation, customs procedures and regulatory compliance.
• Strong coordination, follow-up and problem-solving skills, and good communication with customers and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail, accountability and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and update operational systems.
