Community Mobilizer – VAWG & Protection

About the role

The Community Mobilizer will work at the grassroots level to raise awareness of protection risks, promote prevention of violence against women and girls (VAWG), and support survivors. The role involves direct engagement with community members, coordination with stakeholders, and ensuring that response services are accessible and survivor‑centred.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular outreach and awareness‑raising activities on VAWG risks and available support services.
• Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, encouraging participation in prevention and risk‑mitigation initiatives.
• Facilitate individual and small‑group discussions using approaches such as SASA! Together and EMAP.
• Support the distribution of dignity kits and ensure compassionate, discreet response to disclosures of violence.
• Document community feedback, monitor kit distribution, and track program activities.
• Coordinate with other mobilizers, outreach teams, and sector partners to strengthen VAWG prevention.
• Promote a survivor‑centred approach and represent program standards in all interactions.
• Adhere to security protocols, safeguarding policies, and the organization’s code of conduct.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with community groups.
• Strong commitment to protection and VAWG programming principles, including equality and survivor‑centred support.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for leading discussions.
• Trusted member of the community with fluency in English and the relevant local language.
