Copy Editor (Financial News, Overnight Shift)

About the role

Octus, a global provider of credit intelligence, data and analytics, is looking for a seasoned copy editor to cover editing needs for its technical, legal and market-based stories on corporate finance and distressed debt in the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific. The role supports editorial operations, staff writers and journalists, and covers overnight hours from 9pm to 6am PKT, with possible shifts later next year. It suits someone with wire service, newsroom or similar experience who can turn complex information into concise stories.

Key responsibilities

• Edit high volumes of analyst stories and long-form analysis, enforcing AP and Octus style, grammar, formatting and factual accuracy
• Learn Octus's editorial standards, workflows and internal tools (CMS, Monday.com, AI tools)
• Provide line editing on reporter stories: structure, flow, argument coherence and contextual accuracy
• Make editorial judgments on story completeness, sourcing standards and post-publication corrections
• Work with reporters, analysts and subject matter experts to improve content
• Manage publishing workflows in the CMS so content is accurate and on deadline
• Support other editors regionally and work flexibly from anywhere

Required profile

• Minimum of five years of professional editing experience for a global business organization
• Prior experience in structural editing
• Knowledge of financial news and markets, and ability to work accurately at speed under pressure
• Excellent written English and strong news judgment
• Willingness to cover shift work during the week, including unsociable hours
• Experience building or refining prompts or AI-assisted checklists for editorial workflows, and an interest in automating repetitive publishing tasks
