Country Director – Pakistan

About the role

Welthungerhilfe, one of Germany’s largest development and humanitarian NGOs, is seeking a Country Director for Pakistan. The role leads the design, implementation and adaptation of the country programme in line with the organisation’s 2025‑2030 strategy, ensuring impact, compliance and strong partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the country strategy, aligning with global objectives.
• Oversee financial management, ensuring transparent and accountable use of funds.
• Secure and diversify funding from institutional and private donors.
• Establish and maintain country structures that meet WHH policies and quality standards.
• Lead expatriate and national staff while ensuring security compliance.
• Represent WHH as a key partner in national and international development and humanitarian forums.
• Monitor political, economic and humanitarian trends and report to headquarters.
• Maintain disaster preparedness and crisis‑management plans.

Required profile

• University degree in International Development, Humanitarian Aid, Management, Geography, Agricultural Sciences, Law or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of project management and leadership experience in international development or humanitarian cooperation, preferably in the region.
• Strong HR, organisational and coordination capabilities.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills with cultural sensitivity.
• Proven experience in security and crisis management.
• Demonstrated expertise in localisation and partnership development.
• Readiness for international travel and required vaccinations.
