Curriculum Development Specialist – Math & Science (MTB-MLE)

About the role

The Curriculum Development Specialist – Math & Science will design and develop bilingual teaching and learning materials for the Mother Tongue Based Multilingual Education (MTB‑MLE) pilot in Tharparkar, Sindh. The role focuses on creating textbooks, workbooks, teacher guides and other resources that transition from Sindhi to English as students progress.

Key responsibilities

• Research MTB‑MLE language frameworks and bilingual material development.
• Design and produce student‑centric Math and Science resources in Sindhi and English, adapting chapters and lesson plans to the language transition strategy.
• Review and refine developed materials for quality and alignment with instructional best practices.
• Collaborate with freelancers, graphic designers, and multiple departments to establish consistent visual themes and curriculum standards.
• Develop training modules and conduct field training for teachers on the Language Transition approach.
• Create assessments to monitor student progress and identify implementation challenges.
• Conduct classroom observations to evaluate the effectiveness of the language transition framework.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of Math and Science instructional approaches.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Sindhi, Urdu and English (Sindhi reading/writing mandatory).
• Ability to plan, organize and meet strict timelines.
• Analytical skills for data interpretation and research synthesis.
• Inter‑personal skills to build effective partnerships with designers and program developers.
• Passion for staying current with educational content and teaching methods.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Comfortable typing in Sindhi and Urdu.
