Dev Engineer - Backend

About the role

The Backend Development Engineer will design, build and maintain the server‑side components that power Mashreq's retail banking applications. Working in an agile squad, you will create clean, modern APIs, integrate legacy systems and ensure high performance and scalability.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in all sprint events (planning, refinement, demo, retrospective) and contribute technical expertise.
• Design, develop, unit‑test and peer‑review backend services and APIs.
• Perform functional, performance, resilience and security testing and automate test suites.
• Manage the full lifecycle of services, including deployment, monitoring, incident resolution and decommissioning.
• Improve continuous delivery pipelines and support infrastructure configuration.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently with guidance from documentation and tutorials.
• Experience with agile teamwork and sprint‑based delivery.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, eager to learn new technologies.

Required skills

• API development and integration.
• Database interaction and design.
• ATDD (Acceptance Test‑Driven Development).
• Test scripting and automated testing.
• General coding proficiency and peer code review.
• Continuous delivery and monitoring tools.
